Telehealth Patient Location Policy

For the purpose of ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with relevant laws, our telehealth services have a specific policy about the location of our patients at the time of their visit. If you are seeking to access our telehealth services, you must be located within the State of Ohio at the time of the visit. Regrettably, if you are outside the boundaries of the State of Ohio during your scheduled visit, we will be unable to provide you with health care services. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this policy, as it is essential for maintaining the integrity and legality of our services.

Controlled Substances Prescription Policy

We operate online as a virtual telehealth practice. That means we provide you with medical services online. We always follow Ohio and Federal laws. It's important to know that the rules for online health visits are different from in-person ones. A big difference with online care is that there are constraints around controlled substances. Please be aware that our practice does not prescribe controlled substances. This means we will not give or renew any prescriptions for these types of medicines. If you need a renewal for a controlled substance, please reach out to the doctor or medical professional who originally gave you the prescription. They can best help you with that request. Thank you for understanding and trusting us with your care.

We value transparency and strive to offer competitive rates for our online services.

Office Policy: Direct Payment, Insurance Billing and Prior-Approval Procedures

Purpose: To clarify our office's procedures and policies regarding insurance billing and the collection of insurance information for specialized testing prior-approvals.

Scope: This policy applies to all patients receiving care at Edward C. Isla, MD INC.

Policy Statement:

  1. Direct Payment System: At Edward C. Isla, MD INC, we operate on a direct payment system. This means that patients are responsible for the full payment of services rendered at the time of their visit.

  2. No Insurance Billing: We do not bill any insurance companies directly for services provided at our office. It is the responsibility of the patient to understand their insurance coverage and, if they wish, to submit any claims to their insurance provider independently.

  3. Insurance Information Collection: Although we do not bill insurance directly, there may be occasions when we require patients' insurance information. This is specifically for situations where prior-approval is necessary for specialized testing or treatments that the patient may need.

  4. Prior-Approval for Specialized Testing: Some specialized tests or treatments necessitate prior-approval from insurance companies to ensure coverage or to determine patient eligibility. In such cases, our office staff will request insurance details from the patient. We commit to  maintaining the confidentiality and security of any insurance information provided, using it solely for the purposes of obtaining prior-approvals.

  5. Data Protection: All patient and insurance information provided is protected under the privacy policies and regulations that our practice adheres to. We take patient confidentiality and data protection seriously.

  6. Patient Responsibility: While our staff will assist in the prior-approval process for specialized tests, it remains the patient's responsibility to understand the terms of their insurance, potential coverage, and any out-of-pocket costs they might incur.

  7. Questions and Clarifications: If you have any questions regarding this policy or any other aspect of your care, please speak with our front office staff or administration.

By adhering to this policy, we aim to offer clarity and transparency to our patients regarding financial matters and to streamline the processes associated with specialized testing. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Office Policy on Cancellations and Rescheduling of Appointments

Objective:
This policy provides clear guidance on how to handle appointment changes, ensuring we can take good care of all our patients.

Guidelines:

  1. Changing Appointments: If you need to cancel or reschedule, please use our patient portal. Aim to do this at least 24 hours before your set time.

  2. No Fees, But Please Be Considerate: We don't charge for late cancellations. However, if no-shows become a habit, we might suggest you find another health care provider.

  3. Timeliness Matters: Arriving more than 15 minutes late? We might need to reschedule to make sure you get the best care.

  4. Friendly Reminders: Expect a call, text, or email a day or two before your visit. But it's a good idea to mark your calendar even if you don't get a reminder.

  5. Life Happens: Emergencies come up, and that's okay. Just let us know as soon as you can.

Thanks for helping us keep things running smoothly.
